Kitchen Island Designs: Make some Dramatic Upgrades to your Kitchen

If you are going to make some changes to your home, it only makes sense to consider upgrades that give you the biggest bang for your buck. Given the fact that money is hard to come by in this day and age, you certainly don’t want to waste it. If you enjoy the time that you spend in your kitchen and are a passionate home chef, there are a number of upgrades that you can make that will not only help how you work in the kitchen but will also add to your kitchen’s décor.

Many homeowners today spend a lot of time in their kitchens. If you are one of those passionate home chefs then you probably subscribe to at least one home or food magazine. Maybe you have seen a number of various kitchen island designs within these magazines depicted in high-end kitchens and have thought that an island may be a good addition to your own kitchen. An island will add a lot to, not only how you work in the kitchen, but also to the style and look of your kitchen. As far as functionality is concerned an island will add a new working surface, extra storage capacity, and a focal point that may have been lacking in your kitchen. If you decide to add an island with seating it will be a place where the family can eat dinner or where guests can congregate as you prepare the main meal or appetizers. A kitchen island will never be an upgrade that you will regret making.

Another upgrade that you can make in your kitchen is to make a change to your kitchen backsplash. You may want to add a kitchen tile backsplash or there are a number of other options that you can decide upon for the backsplash area. Metal is a very popular choice for this area due to the fact that it is resistant to damage, it’s easily cleaned, and it will give a modern look to the kitchen. Other choices are mirror which is great for a smaller kitchen and natural stone which will always add a rustic and earthy look to your kitchen. One rather novel material that you could choose for your kitchen backsplash is cork. Not only will it add a totally unique look to your kitchen but it will also be a place where you can post notes to yourself or to other members of the family.

Adding a new kitchen island and changing out your existing kitchen backsplash are two upgrades that will have a dramatic effect on the most popular room of the house.
